Sometimes you may wake up in the morning and have the feeling that you didn’t rest at all as you are irritated and experience pain in the arms and feet. According to the experts, there are more causes of these uncomfortable pains and swellings:
- Sleeping posture and duration of sleep
Our sleeping posture influences the mood we have in the morning. Sleeping on the stomach or on one side might lead to joint ache. Not enough sleep may also cause swollen arms and legs.
Dehydration is one of the most common reasons for swollen limbs. People suffer from this condition when they lack water in the body. When the level of water in our body decreases to minimum, our body automatically adjusts and begins to save up water in the organism.
- High level of salt
Swelling is also caused by excessive salt intake, which enables the body to detain water. If you have a swelling in some body parts, try lowering the amount of salt and you will soon notice the change.
- Kidney diseases
Swollen arms or legs are some symptoms of kidney disease. Our kidneys are essential in filtrating harmful toxins out of our bodies. When a person has a kidney disease, the kidneys’ proper functioning stops and the body begins detaining water that should otherwise be filtrated.
Warm or cold compresses applied onto the affected area may diminish the swelling. Cold compresses are used if the swelling is caused by an allergy or some internal problem.
You may try to massage gently the painful area ti remove the pain. Avoid applying pressure, as you could worsen the pain.
- Compressive materials
You have to assure the blood flow circulation during sleep. That is why you should wear clothes from compressive materials such as tights or socks, so that the blood flow is circulated. If you suffer from swollen hands you can buy compressive gloves.
